Spacehouse acquires AirQualityNews.com

AirQualityNews.com, the UK’s market-leading news and information service covering a range of topics relating to air quality, has been acquired by publishing business Spacehouse.

AirQualityNews has an established pedigree in the UK having been launched in 2012. Since then it has provided a daily news service which now provides a unique archive on air quality developments.

The site, which is popular with readers from across the UK, including local authority officers, the motor industry, government, manufacturers, air quality consultants and businesses, will continue to provide a daily news service and weekly newsletter. The 2019 National Air Quality Awards will be held next autumn.

With the introduction of Clean Air Zones and councils up and down the country formulating new air quality plans, 2019 will be an exciting year for the sector. New editor Thomas Barrett and his team are looking to build on the excellent work previously undertaken by the EMG Group, and cover all the cutting-edge developments within the diverse air quality sphere.

NewStart and Environment Journal have been known for their investigative features and interviews, asking tough questions of councils and businesses around regeneration, housing and the environment. Air Quality News will be no different, and the new editorial team are looking forward to getting started in the New Year.

Thomas Barrett said: “I am excited to shine a light on air quality, which is an emotive and often controversial topic. I am sure the coming months will be stimulating time to be covering the sector.”

Spacehouse is also looking to expand the Viewpoint section of Air Quality News to include a more diverse range of views and opinion, so please contact Thomas Barrett if you would like to contribute.

David Harrison, managing director of Spacehouse, said: “We are delighted with our acquisition of AirQualityNews which will enhance our wider environmental portfolio. There can be little doubt that the whole agenda surrounding air quality has become increasingly prominent and we are committed to investing in the website, conference and awards. We look forward to meeting some of the many visitors, sponsors and advertisers over the coming months.”

Steve Eminton, publishing director of Environment Media Group, said: “With our ambitious plans for new products and events next year, we are focusing on these and so felt the time was right for AirQualityNews to move to Spacehouse Limited.

“I know Spacehouse already have a number of strong titles including www.environmentjournal.online and www.newstartmag.co.uk and they are keen to develop AirQualityNews which is something we welcome. They have an excellent reputation and I am confident that they will build on the strong platform we have created to date. Readers, advertisers and supporters will find the website to be in good hands.”
