Air quality has been monitored for a number since 2005 at seven sites across Brentwood and the council is satisfied that its air quality objectives are being met for all the pollutants except for nitrogen dioxide.

The sites include:

  • Nags Head Lane at its junction with the M25
  • Greenshaw/Porters Close near to the A12 Brentwood Bypass
  • B1002 Roman Road, Mountnessing close to A12
  • Fryerning Lane, Pemberton Avenue and Trimble Close close to the A12

Brentwood has now received confirmation from Defra that the air quality in some of the areas has now improved sufficiently that it can consider whether to revoke four of the seven areas and is asking residents on their views before a decision is made.

AQMAs at Brook Street,  Warescot Road/Hartswood Avenue/Ongar Road, Roman Road Mountessing and Wilson’s Corner will be kept. Residents have until February 17 to respond to the consultation.
