Borough council submits plans to remove AQMAs in four areas after nitrogen dioxide reduction targets met
Brentwood council has asked residents to comment on plans to remove four Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) in the borough after seeing improvements in emission levels.
Air quality has been monitored for a number since 2005 at seven sites across Brentwood and the council is satisfied that its air quality objectives are being met for all the pollutants except for nitrogen dioxide.

Brentwood has now received confirmation from Defra that the air quality in some of the areas has now improved sufficiently that it can consider whether to revoke four of the seven areas and is asking residents on their views before a decision is made.
AQMAs at Brook Street, Warescot Road/Hartswood Avenue/Ongar Road, Roman Road Mountessing and Wilson’s Corner will be kept. Residents have until February 17 to respond to the consultation.
