Air quality monitors ‘ideally suited to construction and demolition’

Moniteye, a leading name in structural and environmental monitoring, is advancing its air quality services through the use of high-precision monitors developed by EarthSense.

With a growing awareness of the impact poor air quality has on human health—ranging from respiratory issues to heart disease and cancer – Moniteye is responding to the increasing demand for accurate environmental data. Their aim is to help clients address harmful pollutants such as fine particulate matter (PM2.5), ozone (O3), and nitrogen oxides (NOx), particularly around sensitive areas like schools and high-risk zones such as demolition sites.

To support this mission, Moniteye has integrated EarthSense’s Zephyr air quality monitors into its operations. These state-of-the-art devices provide real-time data on a wide range of pollutants, including PM2.5, PM10, PM1, NO, NO2, O3, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, and total volatile organic compounds. The monitors are capable of high-accuracy readings, with PM2.5 and PM10 measurements certified to MCerts standards, achieving precision to within 5µg/m³.

Moniteye reports a noticeable shift in public concern and regulatory focus on air pollution, particularly in urban centres and near sensitive infrastructure like hospitals and schools.

Local authorities are tightening air quality requirements for new developments, and builders of residential and commercial properties are under growing pressure to meet strict emissions standards. The data captured by the Zephyr monitors allows Moniteye to not only identify environmental risks but also advise clients on mitigation strategies to reduce exposure and comply with regulations.

Richard Booth, Head of Environmental Monitoring at Moniteye, said: ‘I had favourable experiences of EarthSense’s monitors prior to joining Moniteye and having since assessed the competition in the market, we’re still convinced that EarthSense is the one that we want to use for our clients.
“EarthSense’s Zephyr monitors offer a whole range of benefits including the latest certifications and the capability to run on solar, meaning that they’re ideally suited to our key markets in construction and demolition.

‘Air quality technology has improved massively over recent years with much-improved functionality in areas such as power consumption and GPS co-locating devices.

‘The EarthSense monitors continue to evolve and provide Moniteye’s customers with peace of mind that their air quality requirements are in safe hands.’
