Geraint Davies is the Labour Co-op MP for Swansea West, having previously served as an MP in Croydon Central from 1997 to 2005 and as Leader of Croydon London Borough Council. As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Air Pollution, he leads cross-party discussions on how to improve air quality in the UK. His Clean Air Bill provides a blueprint for new legislation to tackle toxic air in the UK, with support from over twenty MPs.
Professor Catherine Noakes is a charted mechanical engineer, with a background in fluid dynamics. She leads research on ventilation, indoor air quality and infection control in the built environment. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she co-chaired the Environment and Modelling sub group for the UK Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), which led to her being awarded an OBE for Services to the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020.
Cllr Louise Upton is Cabinet Member for Health and Transport at Oxford City Council, as well as the Council’s Cycling Champion. Oxford City Council launched Britain’s first-ever Zero Emission Zone (ZEZ) in February, and Cllr Upton will speak to delegates about this scheme and the wider work the Council is doing to tackle air pollution. Louise has served on the Council as a Labour Councillor since 2013
Kate Langford is the Programme Director for Impact For Urban Health’s programme on the health effects of air pollution. In this role, Kate leads on shaping the strategic direction for the programme and works cross-organisationally to bring the best evaluation, data and influencing expertise to the programme.
Christina has worked at Transport for London (TfL) for over 15 years, and currently serves as Director of Transport Strategy and Policy. She has worked across a diverse range of policy areas at TfL and led the team that developed the Mayor’s Transport Strategy. Christina will discuss the expansion of the ULEZ London-wide and the overlap between air pollution and transport policy in the capital.
Philip Glanville was elected Mayor of Hackney in 2016 and re-elected in both 2018 and 2022. He is currently the Chair of London Councils’ Transport & Environment Committee. The Transport & Environment Committee deals with a wide range of issues, including congestion charging, CCTV enforcement, waste and recycling, air quality and public protection.
