ChargePoint teams up with ALD Automotive for EV framework

EV charging network ChargePoint has teamed up with French fleet leasing firm ALD Automotive to build an international framework agreement to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles for corporate clients, SMEs and private individuals across Europe.

The framework will be rolled out over the next few months in nine countries, including the UK, and offers digital on-boarding, billing solutions, installation and maintenance and 24/7 customer support.

Home charging solutions will also be available for drivers as well as access to a network of public places to charge around Europe.

‘This partnership agreement with ChargePoint fully supports our sustainable growth strategy to work with industry-leading partners in order to broaden the company’s offering and electrify mobility,’ said Tim Albertsen, deputy CEO at ALD.

‘It is not just about replacing a diesel with an electric vehicle, it is about trying to invent new or enhance existing services to facilitate the change and we believe that this agreement, and the ALD Electric approach as a whole, will play an important role in accelerating the energy transition,’ he added.

This initiative is part of ALD Electric, a ‘holistic’ approach to electric vehicles composed of five key services that they hope will incentivise customers to make the jump towards electric vehicles. These include consultancy services, offering businesses the chance to test drive EVs and offering short-term rental flexibility.

Christopher Burghardt, managing director for Europe, ChargePoint, added: ‘The industry has spoken, and the shift to transportation electrification is well underway. Fleet operators and drivers alike are moving with increasing urgency to cleaner electric modes of transport and it’s incumbent on companies like ChargePoint, in collaboration with other ecosystem partners, to enable a more seamless and efficient way of moving people and goods.’
