Gocycle to launch folding electric cargo bikes

Last month, innovative e-bike designers Gocycle shared some CGI images of a possible cargo bike they were developing and this week they have unveiled a pre-production model and announced that they expect the first deliveries to be made in September of this year.

Gocycle’s journey began in 2002 when former McLaren Cars design engineer Richard Thorpe established his own business, Karbon Kinetics.

In 2009, the company launched the lightweight Gocycle G1, the first injection-moulded magnesium alloy bicycle ever made while their most recent models were the folding G4 and G4i.

The latest product will be called the Gocycle CXi & CX+ Family Cargo electric bikes.

Designer & Founder Richard Thorpe said: ‘As we start to qualify our production tooling, we are excited to share a first look at some of the pre-production CXi & CX+ models undergoing evaluation and testing. At Gocycle we cook with different ingredients, with our OneDesignDNA philosophy running through the core of every model.

‘Lightweight, portable and fun. Gocycle’s take on Family Cargo addresses a vital gap in the market, appealing to those discerning families put off by cumbersome and heavy cargo bikes. Be it an urban, marine or rural setting, CXi & CX+ will offer incredible versatility with multiple accessory configurations available at launch.’

Needless to say,  a range of accessories will be made available and its various configurations include the fitting of two child seats.
