Oxford ZEZ delayed
Oxford’s Zero Emission Zone (ZEZ) pilot has been delayed following ‘technical issues.’
The ZEZ pilot was due to be introduced in August 2021, however, Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council have now said that the pilot will be introduced ‘later this year.’
Both councils have said that the scheme should be introduced without creating difficulty for local businesses and have therefore proposed a temporary postponement in order to ensure a full launch without glitches.
As already agreed through engagement with businesses in the zone, the system to register for discounts and exemptions under the ZEZ pilot will open six weeks before the ZEZ pilot start date.
The councils have said that other workstreams for the ZEZ pilot are on track and both councils will provide an update on the resolution of the online systems to allow for a launch this year.
