Envirocare acquires Atesta, paving the way for further growth

Envirocare, an accredited stack emissions testing and occupational hygiene consultancy, which is part of the Cura Terrae group of environmental services companies, has announced the acquisition of Atesta, consolidating the resources and expertise of two industry leaders.

Atesta comes with state-of-the-art testing equipment, and specialist, skilled staff who have many decades of experience in Stack Emissions Testing, all of which will strengthen the Envirocare teams around the UK.

Atesta is currently based in Warrington and will work alongside existing Envirocare teams in Bradford (West Yorkshire), Brackley (Northamptonshire), East Kilbride (Scotland) and Newcastle (Tyne and Wear).

Managing Director of Atesta, Alastair Wolff, has 30 years of emissions testing experience, and having previously established and led the two largest MCERTS accredited emissions testing companies in the UK.

Alastair Wolff, MD of Atesta, comments, ‘Having been at the forefront of the emissions testing industry for 30 years, I am extremely proud of what James, myself, and the whole Atesta Team have accomplished in such a short space of time. We have achieved high levels of customer retention, invested heavily in the best equipment, and focused on amazing customer service.

‘Having achieved so much, I was particularly keen to find a company who would genuinely value what we do, who would recognise all our achievements, and who shared our ethos. I have known John and Barry for many years, and what they have done at Envirocare is nothing short of phenomenal, so when the opportunity to work with them arose, it was literally a dream come true.

‘We are all very excited to be joining forces again, taking the combined business to the next level, and making Envirocare the emissions testing company of choice, for permitted sites across the UK.’

Envirocare is part of Cura Terrae, alongside Ecus, Environmental Monitoring Solutions (EMS) and Enviro Technology Services (ET). These businesses were brought together to form Cura Terrae for their uniting factors of commitment to the environment and to customer service. The company brings together many different disciplines with specialist environmental expertise to support clients in maintaining and evidencing compliance.

The Managing Director of Envirocare, John Healey, adds, ‘This is a significant and exciting development for Envirocare and the rest of Cura Terrae. We look forward to welcoming staff from Atesta and growing and supporting our teams. Atesta’s market reputation was a particular draw for us, aligning well with our focus on quality of service and customer care.

‘For existing Envirocare customers it means we have a larger pool of knowledge, experience and resources to draw upon to provide continually reliable and high-quality stack emissions testing with expanded UK coverage. I am excited to be working alongside Alastair and Jimmy again as I believe they are the best people in the industry for their respective roles.’

Cura Terrae is backed by investment from Palatine Private Equity’s Impact Fund, whose long-term commitment to place purpose and sustainability at the heart of their investment strategy aligns perfectly with Cura Terrae’s mission to protect the environment.

James Gregson, Impact Fund Partner at Palatine, said: ‘This marks the fourth acquisition for Cura Terrae since receiving investment from our pioneering Impact Fund in March 2022. Combing the skills of Envirocare and Atesta adds breadth and depth to Cura Terrae’s role in supporting businesses to understand and determine their compliance with emission limits and laws.’
