Your chance to submit ideas for the Earthshot prize

Air Quality News is an official nominator for the prestigious Earthshot Prize, if you would like to be nominated or would like to nominate someone else then please get in touch. 

The Earthshot Prize is described as ‘the most prestigious global environment prize in history, designed to incentivize change and help repair our planet over the next ten years’.

It is run by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and faced by David Attenborough and Prince William. Five, £1m prizes will be awarded each year until 2030.

Nominations close at midnight GMT on 4 March 2022.

Air Quality News is inviting ideas for nominations.

Prizes could be awarded to a wide range of individuals, teams, or collaborations – scientists, activists, economists, community projects, leaders, governments, banks, businesses, cities, and countries – anyone whose workable solutions make a substantial contribution to achieving the Earthshot’s five aims:

  • Protect and restore nature
  • Clean our air
  • Revive our oceans
  • Build a waste-free world
  • Fix our climate

The Earthshot Prize are looking specifically for three types of intervention. 

  • Prevention: innovations that can provide an alternative to approaches that cause harm, such as renewable energy instead of fossil fuels.
  • Restoration: innovations that are regenerative or restorative
  • Adaptation: innovations that help minimise the impact on people and on theenvironment
