Podcast: Why we need Clean Air Day, with Larissa Lockwood

The latest episode of the Air Quality News Podcast is now live.

In this episode, editor Chloe Coules speaks to Larissa Lockwood, Director of Clean Air at Global Action Plan, the charity responsible for organising the UK’s largest clean air campaign, Clean Air Day.

Larissa tells Chloe about the work that goes on behind the scenes to organise this important national campaign and discusses how Clean Air Day has grown over the years.

She also explains why Clean Air Day is necessary, and why every day should be a clean air day.

‘We need to talk about air pollution, and we all need to do something about air pollution – both as individuals and as a society – and Clean Air Day provides an opportunity to do just that,’ explains Larissa.

‘Even though we can’t see it, we know that air pollution impacts our health from our first breath to our last. As you’ll well know, it’s the biggest environmental threat to your health, no matter who you are or where you live, and it can really harm every organ in our bodies and shorten our lives.’

Larissa and Chloe talk about how you can take action this Clean Air Day, from talking about air pollution with family and friends to leaving the car at home and walking or cycling short-distance trips.

They also discuss the role individual action plays in tackling air pollution, and what the future holds for the campaign.

This podcast is brought to you in association with Vortex IOT, who are now part of Marston Holdings. Together, they are offering end-to-end decarbonising solutions that reduce air pollution for their clients.
